Work Highlights
  • As the lead counsel, provided legal services for China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd. in its bid to acquire the equity of a Peruvian power distribution company divested by Sempra Energy for $3.59 billion. This was the largest overseas acquisition project by a Chinese enterprise since 2019 and one of the largest global power industry M&A projects in the past three years
  • Acquired the Portuguese power company on behalf of China Three Gorges Corporation. This marks the first instance of a major Chinese state-owned enterprise winning the bid to acquire a significant stake in an international large-cap listed company

  • Undertaken China Three Gorges Corporation’s Karot Hydropower Project (on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer basis) in Pakistan, which is one of the first batch of projects implemented under the Belt and Road Initiative and the first investment project of the Silk Road Fund

  • On behalf of Lenovo Group Limited, participated in the M&A project of acquiring IBM's global PC business, becoming the first Chinese law firm to be involved in a major international acquisition by a Chinese company

  • Represented Bright Food (Group) Co., Ltd., in the acquisition of the share capital of The Weetabix Food Company. The transaction represents the largest overseas acquisition by a Chinese company in the food and beverage sector

  • Led the EPC+F financing project of POWERCHINA’s 730MW combined cycle power plant project in Rumaila, which is the first sovereign guarantee project for the private sector since the post-war reconstruction of Iraq

  • Advised China Three Gorges Corporation on its EPC services for the Murum Hydroelectric Project in Malaysia with a transaction value of approximately $1 billion

  • On behalf of CECEP Wind-power Corporation Co., Ltd., conducted the acquisition of White Rock Wind Farm in Australia. This exemplifies a greenfield project investment and development undertaken by a Chinese enterprise through equity acquisition
